Is there such thing as an inexpensive laser machete or electronic? Problems with architectural models …?

Constantly building models for my kind of architecture, and to sound the way that you can not practice a laser cutter would be. I want something that you can connect to your computer, draw shapes and cut into thin wood or particle board. I know laser cutting are expensive, but cutting this craft in the model is now called the Cricut. You can see what I'm talking about if you do not know what it is .. This http://www.joann.com/joann/catalog_old.jsp?CATID=166365 clearly not cut the paper and will probably not cut predefined commands. But my question is, there is nothing there that is relatively affordable (under $ 500) for custom shapes cut from wood or heavy cardboard? Thanks!

Do not be lazy! Each of us who have gone through the school of architecture had to build a ton of garbage models. It is a skill that is very complete and really miss them build. The process of construction at hand is invaluable in the design process. As you create, to play with the various aspects and could find something that suits their best design. Do not deflate!
