Cutting System

My surround system keeps cutting out intermitently in sound when hooked up to my tv what can I do?

I have a surround system,with a built in decoder,when its hooked up to the TV this makes the sound and speech trip like cutting out on high frequencies intermitenly. what can I do/

Assuming that you have connnected home theater to Line-out (Phono) sockets.

Some reasons are …
Most manufactures use White and Red colored RCA sockets as Line outputs for TVS, DVDs VCD players etc.

If there is no surround sound in the broadcast or your TV is not capable of reciving stereo L-R signal there will be no output in the Rear channels of the surround sound system.
Only front channels willl work.

Some TVs Just receive Mono and try to spread it to imitate the spatial features of surround sound, then your rear channel of home theatre will have signal but front chanel will contain nothing but a muffeld sound (like someone tied your mouth with a mufler when you are speaking).
