Looking for small dog (puppy)that is good with babies any suggestions?

I’d like a puppy, a smallish dog that is really good with children and will be good in the house. I have time to exercise the puppy, but don’t want a really high maintenance one. Just a loving companion.
The baby is my nephew

Often a new baby and a puppy is just not a good situation for anyone from what I have seen with friends that have done this. A baby will often innocently hurt the puppy because they don’t understand what they are doing, and vice a versa with the puppy. Puppys are not low maintanance in general either. I would wait until the children are at least 3 or 4 years before taking it on.
