Can I thread 2 different embroidery threads on one needle and sew?

How will this look? Is there a name for this technique?

Sure. It comes out looking something like marled sweater yarn. For examples, see Nelson’s Creative Machine Stitchery — if you look it up on Amazon, the leaves in the lower right corner of the cover were done with several shades of green intermixed in the needle…. she did a light green mix and a dark green mix.
