Flower Charms

Would you rather be the proverbial “dog”, or the proverbial “flower”?

Personally, I’d rather be the dog. I’d be sort of ugly and graceless and maybe not terribly intelligent, but I’d hang around with the other dogs and have some fun. I’d win over with charm and affection. And though I might “mark” a flower or three, I certainly don’t mean anything bad by living one leg and doing what dogs do. I’d also last years longer than the flower, and have a very good sense of protecting myself, and sticking up for the other home dogs.

But, as the flower I would start with a small seed. Taking really nothing from the environment, but by using the minerals in the earth and the rain from the sky, I can grow into a plant the size of pin head, a huge century plant, but let’s assume I am the flower on an apple tree. The tree I come from can live long enough to be enjoyed for generations. I provide beauty to those who see me. I give fragrance to the air around me. I provide pollen for the honey bee to make honey. I die and evolve into fruit that can feed either humans, animals or insects. I can fertilize the earth, or my seed can start the whole process again.
