How do you get a great deal on a car?

What are websites you can go to and get quotes from multiple dealers. Or any other ways you know of to get a good deal?

I might have some help….My father sold cars for 10 years and this is what he explained to me. First New Cars……You have the MSRP (sticker price)….Then Invoice (wholesale)…Then the actual cost of the car. So, if a car “stickers” for $20,000 and Invoices for $18,000 and has a FACTORY TO DEALER INCENTIVE or HOLDBACK of $2000, the actual cost is $16,000 on that particular vehicle. Got that. Okay, now let’s talk used vehicles, just like NEW cars the “Kelly Blue Book Price” is sticker price on a used vehicle. There really isn’t an invoice price, but “Kelly” and a couple other companies put out a “Black Book” several times a year that gives the wholesale or auction price on used vehicles within a certain geographical area. Used Cars traditionally have a larger percentage of markup than New. Now, if you are planning to trade in a vehicle on a New or Used car, understand that the Dealerships will either trade Retail to Retail or Wholesale to Wholesale with you. This means, using my example for a New Car, that your trade in is worth say—$3500 in the BLACKBOOK/ wholesale and say—$5500 in the BLUEBOOK/Retail. The Dealership can offer you a deal on the $20,000 car of $14000 dollars and your trade. (3500 + 2500) and still make 1500 on the deal. Add financing into the mix and that can add up to $500.00 for the dealership. Also, the manager can appraise your car for more than $3500 depending on condition and market factors. Clear as mud, isn’t. Good Luck
