Could I convert a knitting pattern calling for dpns to knit with straight needles?

I bought some dpns for the pattern to make fingerless gloves but could not for the life of me learn to use dpns its too hard for me right now, is there anyway to do dpn knitting patterns with straight needles only?

Not unless you’re willing to create a seam somewhere – but even still, you’ll need the dpns if there’s a thumb piece. I agree they’re intimidating at first, but you’re still only using two needles at a time – the rest are just there holding stitches – so it’s just like using two needles otherwise. Pretend the others aren’t there (until you get to them)!

The benefit is that you can knit every row (stocking stitch) without having to purl every other row to get the same effect. Goes quickly!
