What fabrics might work well in a quilt made of 8 inch strips of fabric?

8×2 inches or so.

Any stable fabric. If you have a variety of fabric weights, such as denim and silk for example, you would add iron-on stabilizer to the lighter weight silk so it would “hold it’s on” with the heavier denium.

Washable fabrics are preferred, but never stopped Victorian quilters who used silk, velvet and lace.

Many paper piecing patterns use small fabric pieces.

A foundation pattern uses muslin as the backing and the strips are stitch to it, similar to the paper piecing technique.

I sometimes stitch small pieces together to make a larger piece for a pattern or block.

The sky is the limit – you are the designer – enjoy your project!
